Governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder wanted more education spending next year

Governor Rick Snyder said Thursday he would propose more expenses for the education of Michigan in the upcoming budget proposal.

School districts take pieces of more than 2 percent in this year’s budget, or nearly $ 1 billion, and many had to lay off teachers and contracting out cleaning services for food and absorb the cuts. Funding for State University dropped by 15 percent, and many held up almost 7 percent tuition to make up for the lost State support.

Reduced constantly criticized by Democrats and has proven to be unpopular with many voters. House Democratic leader Richard Hammel has called for giving $ 457 million left over from the financial year to public schools, it has ignored advice Snyder.

The Republican Governor told The Associated Press last month that he did not plan to cut public schools or higher education in the 2012-13 proposal of expenses for the fiscal year that began October 1. But he did not say until Thursday that he wanted to increase funding.

“We intend to, hopefully, to devote more resources than last year to a number of areas. Education … is one of them, “Snyder told the AP in an interview. He added that he will be releasing more details on February 9, when he gave his budget proposal.
