Concussion prevention efforts feature mobile app

Four sports organizations will receive $ 1.5 million in federal funding for new educational programs designed to reduce concussions and other brain injuries in children and teens who play sport team.

Public health agency of Canada “are active and safe” program in support of the joint project of the ThinkFirst Canada, Canadian Centre for ethics in sport, Coaching Association of Canada and Hockey Canada to help coachers, coaches, parents, and athletes recognize and prevent serious brain injury.

In announcing the Fund in Ottawa Thursday, Minister of State for amateur sport Bal Gosal noted that about 90 percent of severe brain injury which can be prevented if parents, coaches and kids themselves to know more about the risks.

“We can’t eliminate all injuries,” Gosal said, “but we want to help parents and coaches predict the predic and prevent Is prevented.”

The information provided by his Department said more than 40 percent of brain injury in children and adolescents aged 10-19 years who were treated in emergency departments of sports and recreational activities.
